Maps and scouting
What the map markers mean, what's exact and what's only a candidate, and how scouting works in 2.9.
Checked against the patch notes on .
The maps cover Stillwater Bayou, Lawson Delta, DeSalle and Mammon's Gulch, with about 58,600 positions across them. The positions come from Kamille's interactive maps, extracted from game build 2.9.0.41. I draw them on a plain grid because the community basemap images aren't mine to republish.
How to read a marker
- It's a candidate or placed position. Many objects are picked by the game from an area's possible spots, so a marker shows where something can be, not where it will be.
- An area's odds aren't each marker's odds. If an area always picks two items from twenty spots, each spot doesn't have a 100% chance.
- Layers overlap. The same physical object can appear on a main layer and a detail layer, so counts aren't unique objects.
- Height matters. Multi-floor buildings stack markers in 2D. Each marker shows its source height value; it isn't a verified floor number.
- Event markers are labelled with their configured dates. Some event content ended on 7 October 2026, before this data was researched.
- Off-map markers. Ten positions sit slightly outside the 4096 × 4096 map area. I list them as off-map rather than moving them onto the edge.
- Spawn-condition codes like
aorcare shown exactly as the data has them. Their meaning isn't documented, so I don't interpret them.
What's exact and what isn't
Cash registers, animals, the major supply and tower sites, fixed envelope spots and trait spots each have their own category in the data. Their coordinates are reliable, but whether they're present, and what they hold, can still depend on the match or an event.
Two things are deliberately not claimed:
- Money purses. Most purse locations are inside generic loot, tool and saddle systems. The map shows those candidates and labels them as candidates.
- Caravans and burned convoys. There's no separate layer for them, and I don't relabel supply markers as caravans.
Scouting in 2.9
Since 2.9, supplies, towers and extractions start hidden. Investigating clues reveals extraction information, and Scouting Maps, getting close, and Spyglass interactions reveal other locations. Scout Towers always hold a Scouting Map. Each map has five candidate tower sites, which isn't the same as five active towers. (2.9 notes)
